Save and Restore manual inputs feature

Save and Restore manual inputs feature

This is the ability to save and restore manual inputs. This includes the following components:

  • Within the account statement transformation mapping the ability to flag a fund input measure as “requiring manual input”

  • From the existing manual input screens the ability to persistently store manually inputted fields

  • During update of fund inputs from Canoe documents any fields flagged for manual input will be automatically updated from the manual input overlay

This means there is no longer a risk of an automated update from Canoe overwriting fields which are manually inputted by the user, these will be automatically restored to the previous value.

How to use the functionality

  1.  In the “Data Transformation – Account Statement” mapping table the field is flagged as requiring manual input

  1. From any of the existing “Fund Input” screens there is now an option to “Save Manual Inputs”. This can be preformed for an individual fund, all funds or any selection of funds and quarters.

Note that this step requires human interaction! Only fields flagged for manual input will be saved to the manual input overlay. (Boxed in red in the screenshot below.)

  1. When updating fund inputs from Canoe via the “Load to LPPM” button in the example below all fields (highlighted yellow) will be read from Canoe and updated directly. The field(s) flagged for manual input will be restored automatically from the overlay.

Note that the manual input overlay is only ever written to the Current version, the “Canoe Load” version is a ways a clean temporary copy of the data coming from Canoe only. To do the full update of the Current version complete with manual inputs you need to select Normal mode during the update. (To date you have been using Preview mode which updates only the “Canoe Load” copy and doesn’t overwrite the Current version.)

When updating a new quarter where no manual input exists yet, then after the load from Canoe you would go to the existing fund input view, enter the correct values and then click “Save Manual Inputs”. For any subsequent reloads from Canoe for the same quarter the previously entered manual fields would be restored and not need to be reentered.
