The FIN BSEG 1 dimension will represent the Cost Centers Xeno group. Navigate to the page: Administration > Business Segments > FIN BSEG 1 to setup the dimension.

Settings are the dimension’s name and usage for the business segment.

Captions

The business segments have a generic dimension name, e.g., FIN BSEG 1. In the BSEG maintenance page, the dimension’s caption can be changed to reflect the business usage of the business segment. The caption set here will be shown in the user interface instead of dimension’s name. As well as changing the dimension caption, the mandatory Total FIN BSEG x and NA FIN BSEG x elements can be given a business description. This will not change the principal name of these elements. Instead the Description and Code and Description attributes are updated to represent the business usage.

Click on "Update Captions" button to apply the changes to the Caption, Total FIN BSEG x and/or NA FIN BSEG x captions.

Usage

The Usage tells Apliqo FPM if the Business Segment is in used for reporting and analysis. Usage first is set globally (Module:Global) and then for a specific module. The Business Segment usage is the same globally and for the General Ledger (Module:FIN GL). This may not be always the case so set both.

Secured

Indicates if the dimension has element security. This should be set to No for now. We will discuss security as a separate topic in the training material.

Add Automation Step

The rollup and attribute information for this dimension is sourced from the FIN BSEG 1.CSV file in the Source Data folder. Here is the sample file: . The columns of the file are as such:

To load the CSV file, we need to create add a new Step in the Automation tab.

Flat Rollup

Now that we have many leaf elements and consolidations it can be difficult to troubleshoot differences between rollups. As a data is stored against leaf element it can be helpful to have rollup that just contains the leaf element of the dimension. In the following walk through we are going to change the Automation setting to create the FIN BSEG 1 Leaves consolidation and add the leaf element to this consolidation.

Top Node

Now that we have a number of top nodes to the FIN BSEG 1 dimension it can be helpful to create a single top node that collects all the top nodes of the dimension. In the following walk through we are going to change the Automation Settings to create the FIN BSEG 1 Rollup consolidation and add the existing top nodes to the consolidation.
