2.3. Planning Chart of Accounts

The Planning Chart of Accounts (CoA) is distinct chart of accounts from the Operational Chart of Accounts. The Operational CoA is at the same level of detail as the transactional source systems and is used for management reporting and analysis.

The Planning Chart of Account is specifically designed for financial planning. In this section we are going to set up the Planning Chart of Accounts. For this training we are going to plan at one level higher than the natural accounts in the Operational Chart of Account. You will learn

  • how to map the Operational CoA to define the Planning CoA.

  • Set the Fixed Accounts.

  • The planning modules, balance sheet planning, revenue planning and expense planning.

  • The flags (attributes) that are used by the Planning CoA for planning.

Once the Planning CoA has been initialised, we will learn how to updates to the Planning CoA can be automated.
