2023.05 » New Features and Enhancements

Merge Widgets / Sub-Views vertically with shared column dimension NEW Feature

Version 2023.05 introduces new feature that closely resembles connected widgets and row master options already available in the app. However, it takes things to a whole new level by providing users with the ability to merge both views and grid widgets based on the common column dimension.

The advanced options panel in the cube settings includes now new Master Widget (Columns) available for grid widgets or Master Column option available for views, which allows users to select a master view for merging data.

Selected dimensions on rows have labels visible in the row header for both dimensions to provide users with a quick way to identify the dimensions they are working with, making it easier to analyze data.

Users can still use basic grid/views functionalities like drill, inserting new rows and columns, or utilize subset editor shortcuts available in the table context menu. This feature also supports stacked dimensions, providing users with even more flexibility in creating reports.

Virtual / Helper dimension on filter bar NEW Feature

This version also brings addition of Virtual / Helper dimensions. One of the main benefits of this feature is that users can add the same dimension to the global filter section, provided that the Settings Key defining the dimension is different allowing to apply advanced data filtering options.

Key defining the dimension will be displayed in the advanced options panel, making it easy for users to copy and use in UX placeholder context.

NOTE:

Users can also use now new shortcut ctrl + space to access the list of available settings service placeholders » go to Text Auto complete for settings service values (using Ctrl + Space) section in this article to get more information.

We're also introducing the ability to create custom dimensions with user specified list of elements. With this enhancement, users can enjoy greater flexibility in defining the data they want to work with.

Status bar for tables (Sum/ Average/ Count) new FEature

The latest version 2023.05 comes with an additional feature » Status bar

It can provide valuable insights for data analysis and help gather relevant information. This feature offers a summary of selected cells in a grid or view, visible in the page title section. It includes average, minimum, maximum, count, and sum of the selected cells, with 0 values excluded from from the calculations for greater accuracy.

To remove the Status Bar click on any cell in the table.

Additionally, new advanced option under card config has been implemented, allowing users to enable the Status bar (Cell Summary) to be displayed in the widget header, in cases where title space is not available » e.g. in popups or dashboards with hidden titles.

The status bar will appear in the wizard footer if there is no available title space, such as when the Hide Header option is used.

Export to Excel as a slice with DBRW’s and Subnm’s NEW Feature

In the version 2023.05 users also have an option to Export to Excel as a slice with DBRW’s and Subnm’s and use excel file for interactive data analysis. New advanced option in toolbar section has been added so that the users can enable export as DBRW slice under the Export button for specific reports.

Users can now export cell references displayed in a report, rather than static values. Those references allow to dynamically pull data from the tm1 server. To use this feature, an Excel add-in (such as Slice) must be installed and configured to connect to the server. In addition, the exported Excel file will include a filters section, adding flexibility to the data analysis process.

Sandbox Data Entry new FEature

This version presents users with a new feature called Sandbox, which provides increased control over data changes in the reports, and is now available as an advanced option in the toolbar section. When enabled, users gain access to a new set of buttons in the page toolbar.

The default value for the sandbox is Base representing the original values. However, users can easily create new sandboxes by inputting a custom name and clicking on the plus icon. Once it’s created, those additional options will be available:

publish the changes

publish data and update the base values

discard the changes

discard changes made within the sandbox to revert to the base values

delete the sandbox

remove the sandbox from the dropdown list of available sandboxes

When changes are discarded, all updates made under a specific sandbox are removed, so it’s recommended to use cube names when creating sandboxes to make tracking and management easier.

After selecting a sandbox, any modifications made are highlighted in blue for easy identification. Users can compare changes by selecting different sandboxes from the dropdown list, for quick analysis.
